FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will the locks fit my door? +

Yes, but compatibility depends on the door type, thickness and construction. Before purchase, we check the door parameters and help choose a suitable model.

Is it difficult to install an electronic lock? +

We recommend our professional installation so the lock works correctly and keeps all functions available.

What happens if the battery runs out? +

No need to worry — most models include an emergency power or opening method. The exact option depends on the model.

Does the lock work without Wi-Fi? +

Yes. Basic opening functions usually work without Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is needed for additional features such as remote control.

Can I give access to another person? +

Yes. Models with app control can grant access to other users, and some models support temporary PIN codes.

Can I view entry history? +

If the model supports this function, the app can show opening history and users.

How safe are electronic locks? +

Electronic locks use several layers of protection and can combine mechanical and electronic locking systems. The protection level depends on the specific model.

What happens during a power outage? +

The locks run on independent batteries, so a home power outage usually does not affect their operation.

How often do batteries need replacing? +

Battery life depends on the model, usage frequency and battery type. The lock warns you in advance when the charge is low.

Is there a warranty? +

Yes, the locks come with a warranty.

How do I choose a lock? +

Leave a request on the website — we will check your door type and parameters, desired functions, and choose a suitable model.

What power options are available for smart locks? +

Depending on the model, a lock may run on standard batteries or a built-in rechargeable battery. When selecting a lock, we recommend the best option based on the door model and operating conditions.

What should I do if the batteries or rechargeable battery run out? +

Most models warn you in advance when the charge is low. If the power is completely depleted, the lock can be opened with a mechanical key or powered temporarily via USB/Type-C, depending on the model.

Will a smart lock freeze in winter? +

Smart locks are designed for use in a range of temperature conditions. However, the permitted temperature range depends on the specific model. Before installation, we select a lock based on whether the door is located indoors or outdoors.

Can a smart lock be hacked? +

Smart locks have several layers of protection, including encryption and safeguards against password guessing and unauthorized access. Many models also have mechanical protection and an emergency opening method.

What should I do if the lock stops working? +

First, check the charge level of the batteries or rechargeable battery. If the issue is not related to the power supply, contact iLock — our specialist will diagnose the lock and determine the cause of the fault.

What warranty is provided for smart locks? +

iLock locks come with a 2-year warranty.

All other models, including Philips and other brands, come with a 1-year warranty.

What is considered a warranty case? +

A warranty case is a lock malfunction caused by a manufacturing defect or faulty components, provided the operating instructions have been followed.

For example:

  • the lock no longer recognises a fingerprint despite a working power supply;
  • the electronic part of the lock does not work;
  • the display, reader or another electronic component is faulty;
  • the lock does not respond to its standard opening methods despite a working power supply;
  • a mechanism malfunction has occurred due to a manufacturing defect.
What is not covered by the warranty? +

The warranty does not cover faults resulting from:

  • mechanical damage;
  • improper use;
  • unauthorised repair or modification of the lock;
  • damage caused by water or other liquids, where the model is not designed for such conditions;
  • damage after an impact, break-in or attempted forced entry;
  • use of unsuitable batteries or rechargeable batteries;
  • normal wear and tear of consumable parts.
What should I do if the lock breaks? +

Contact us and tell the manager about the issue. A specialist will carry out an initial diagnosis and arrange service if required. If the fault is recognised as a warranty case, repair or replacement will be performed under the warranty terms.
